Etisalat’s Coverage Poster

IMG_0016-lores

I’m a sucker for anything that steps away from “the trend”. The last two sunday papers for Thisday and 234 Next have featured an A1 poster by Etisalat showing a typographical illustrated map of Nigeria and the states currently covered by the network.

Whilst a little bit of attention could have been paid to kerning and line-height, I commend the creativity. Well done guys, I think the agency behind this is 141 Worldwide. Very clever!

    I applaud Etisalat o! They have always been coming up with very interesting and creative ads, both on TV and in the newspapers since they came. I saw the poster and I agree that it’s a good job.

    @Denver

    To be honest at the beginning I really loathed Etisalat’s ad campaign, them and all the other telecoms companies ESPECIALLY GLO, it’s always the same ol concept, a pool of Nigerians from different walks of life – man in baban riga, man in suit, woman in buba and wrapper, little child preferably a girl etc using a phone or being “connected” in someway. So tired – yes we get it. Nigerians like to talk.

    But these new ads, all the work from LTC JWT for Nokia and 141 for Etisalat and the 9ja, I’m truly loving it. It’s a real breath of fresh air.

    One of the operators (Glo I think) has done something similar in the past but this execution is much better in terms of design and format. The Glo option was a double page spread in the newspaper. It is thoughtful of them( 141) to have made the map as an insert for the newspaper and to have used a much thicker paper stock. I also love the size.

    yeah! Is a v goood job. Uncluttered and simple. Paper stock and printing help it stand out. Wat Karo says about Glo, Zain etc is true. It is a challenge as their agencies, we must burn our brains to break down the same old “Stuck” thinking…cos in the end there’s very little thats “sticks” about it. Colin M

    Yay!!

    My Husband did that! and most of the other Etisalat ad’s out there.

    Concept and Copy…..of course with tweaks and go ahead from top management.
